Melek Taus is well known as the Peacock Angel, which according to some scholarly sources and historically, is equated with Azazel, Samael / Lucifer. The way that I write him is accoding to the mythos that he was the angel that was part of the Heavenly Host who refused to bow before Adam because they were commanded not to. What he got for his "rebellion" is to be cast down to Earth to rule. The Yazidi peoples of Northern Iraq, however, believe that Melek Taus / The Peacock Angel is not doomed for eternity but will regain his heavenly spot. My character is not altogether sure that he wants that - but we can play that out over time while he decides. ;)

5. Whether your character is coming into the community clean

Melek has a history with Fanny Fae over the whole of her life. Fanny who is in the community has gone a little quiet as of late. He also has a history with Amaranteand has been watching her since her childhood as well. Of course, there is no expectation that this would come into play here in the group.

I am hoping that in playing Melek and getting him (and me!) into the groove of the community, I can get my other muses to speak up! I have been writing him for quite a while over at Pan Historia as Azazel with a different PB. He is a whole lot of fun to write and so I want him to stretch his wings, figuratively and literally. ;)

Being one of the Fallen Angels, he rather likes to indulge in all kinds of sin. He is completely open to RP with anyone and look forward to letting him get to know you all.
"The flesh of the Earth, all worn away, thin.
The seconds stone cold in a moment gone dim.
A plunge into Darkness and Vanity’s grasp
Where faces haunt mirrors trapped in by the past."

Now attired properly as a royal lady of the Unseelie Court, Melek Taus watched Amarante slip through a doorway within the hall of mirrors. The black pearls and diamonds on her draped gown wrapped her form, put into place with articulate hands and attention to detail. She was, no longer a doll made up into something she was not to be broken from her crysalis, transformed once agian into a dark butterfly.

Even at the last she managed to give him a coquettish glance, her face still flushed, her body still taut, nipples erect. By her scent, he knew she had not been unaffected by what had passsed between them.

To his mind, Amarante was talented, but there were just some things that even the best actors and actresses could not feign. He was uncertain that he would see her this night as he bade her to do. The Grigori did not care. She had alerted him to the trap of the Seelie and their infinite plots woven in the pretense of ultimate good that far too many had been taken in by over many millennia.

He gave no indication that he knew that he and Amarante had been accutely observed not only by Faelyn, Jocelyn and her consort, but by their enemies. He straightened his garments once more, and looked unpreterbed as he reached the door. He would stay away from the royal family for a time.

So the Seelie and their conspirators meant to entrap him and take the rest, he mused. They would have to be far more duplicitous than they had been in the past. In spite of Seelie attempts at deception, the message that Amarante had passed to him through each touch, each gaze, each kiss and sigh had been received. Hers was a singular talent in that regard that few, human or Fae possesed.

Now they would play out the larger game.

Alexander rolled over, slinging his arm over the prone form of Christine Parker. Both he and his companion were exhausted from the night before, a mixture of late night devotion to the law which had been only interrupted by their mutual need for sexual gratification.

"You blooded me, you beast," Christine's voice was a purr, even though her back was to him. "I should make you pay for that."

Alexander kissed her shoulder and inhaled deeply. She smelled of warmth and winter, champagne and sex )

Monsieur:

I have been informed by my own scribe that she, and your lovely scribe would like us to begin having a conversation.

Of course, I cannot entirely fathom what the two of them have in mind, but of course, I may be able to guess. Since your family and I have very deep connections over the many centuries years, I should like you to know that I have always had a keen interest in all branches of your family...and you of course.
Alchemia bookstore could have been a clone of Watkins Books in London. The gorgeous Victorian storefront was filled with luxuriously printed delights of all kinds, both new and exquisite antiques.

As dignified and inviting the outside of the store was, the inside was even more tantalising. The dark wood floor was polished to an impossible sheen, strewn throughout with antique Oriental rugs of various shapes and sizes. There were row upon row of floor to ceiling shelves, neatly laid out, some of them with closed and locked glass doors that could be opened upon request. Among the colourful tomes were statuary and incense, crystals and jewelry, and all manner of hedonistic delights to the spirit. Alexander mused to himself as he and his sister-in-law, Lady Ashley, stepped through the door that Tolkien’s dragon, Smaug, would have been quite at home in such a place. It definitely struck a chord in his own collector’s heart. Read more... )

Originally created for the online interactive novel, "The Midnight People" on Pan Historia.
Lady Ashley Grigori watched the buildings roll by as her plane taxied toward JFK. Twelve hours of traveling, was more than enough to make anyone weary and the nagging ache in her back reminded her why she hated to travel. Well, at least she mused, she would not have to deal with her husband while she visited Alexander. Alexander was far more interesting than his older brother, Edward, and far sexier, too. She smiled to herself when she thought of his Yuletide visit. This trip was the culmination of the promises that she and Alexander had made to each other then. Read more... )

The world was spinning; careening out of control and at the centre of it was Melanthe. Before a well-stoked fire and beneath the night sky, she whirled derrvishly. Her skin had been annointed with baneful, herbs rendered in vegetable oils and rendered animal fats. Each one had been selected to enhance her awareness until it neared a mad, visionary state. Even beneath the thin shift that she still wore, the scent purmeated the cloth. Her pupils dialated yet alert even in the firelight. The Witch with wild eyes, gyrations and hair knew well what she had come to this place for. It was alll for the summoning, to gain aid from inhuman allies that could help them in this war. An eyebrow arched over Melek’s eye when Amarante spoke of her Lady's difficulty after the war. Of course, Faelyn had never elaborated what she had truly been through, so he was surprised that he did not learn of it before this moment. He would make note of it and ask the Queen of the Fortunate Isle about it directly. Now, however, he was completely absorbed in listening to what Amarante had to say; or perhaps what was more useful to him, what she was not saying. Read more... )

Tonight, tell us about a time when you weren't very forthcoming.

"Is that why you killed all those men - the officers, too?" Faelyn ran her fingertip along the top of the desk, pausing when she reached the letter opener. "No one in the village was the same after that day in Oradeur-sur-Glane," she said, "least of all Amarante."

"What is it you would like to know?" Melek leaned back in his chair. "Since you know who and what I am, my dear, and have known me all of your life, then surely you must understand why I let would permit you to draw your own conclusions about what I did and why."

Her large, dark eyes turned to pebbles of black ice at Melek's words. Faelyn's question had been specific - pointedly so. He had simply eluded her inquiry and made the situation just that much less tenable. "That's not good enough. I've watched you watching her, drawing down her defenses. I've seen her go from being terrified of you to planning to slip away with you for the weekend. Which is it. Melek?"

"As I said, I will allow you to draw your own conclusions."

Did you choose your muse or did they choose you? What was the process like in getting to know your muse?

I have many muses, but I think, perhaps, in Melek's case, he rather chose me. He had been ever present in one form or another in my life for all of my life. Then when a bit of literature here and there kept reappearing, he rather appeared to stay about three or four months ago. Far be it from me to kick him out! Every time I least expect it, another bit of information in one form or another appears.

I liked the idea of writing a Fallen Angel whose history had been twisted throughout the various world mythos into something that neither he nor the Divine intended. Certainly, among the Kurdish people of Northern Iraq or as Melek is so often emphatically correcting me, "Persia," he is worshiped as a deity. Also, in modern Faerie Trads, which practice a mix of both Hedgewitchery and old Druidic belief, he does appear as the Peacock Angel. He has liked the idea of coming and going between the worlds of mankind and the other creatures such as the Tuatha d'Anan who are of a different race of beings altogether. Like most Fae Creatures or even Fallen Ones, he can be quite charming and yet there is a sharper edge and a decidedly dangerous side of him. So far he is far less like the stereotypical Fallen Angel that we find in books and film and I for one rather like him.
"Heaven arms with compassion those it would not see destroyed." - Tau Te Ching

So it is said.

I have a unique view upon this idea of what Heaven does. I suppose you might say I have quite an intimate knowledge of it, and of the Beings within it. There are so many complexities, so many intrrigues. One day you're the most resplendant and Shining One in the Heavenly Host, and the next day you are ordered to grovel at the feet of an inferior being as if he were a newly created God. Oh....but the creatures that the Almighty created after Adam... Yes. Lilith and even Eve - though less so. Those were the true perfected creations, worthy for We, the Elder Ones to take to Ourselves.

There are those who know the truth about all of this, and those are my devotees. Even now they are persecuted throughout the various realms of existence, especially those who cling most staunchily to my worship. Even the poor Yezidi peoples of Northern Iraq have been infiltrated by the followers of Mohammed and their oft-misinterpreted books. The descendants of the Shepherd people are little better, and in that they and the Christians are united in their fear of what they cannot grasp.

The Fae races, too, both the Seelie and the Unseelie know the truth of things; as do the very few among the Galic Celts, the descendants of Melusine - the true Witches. Those...those are the ones who shall endure in spite of the ongoing War in Heaven. They are the ones who entreated and served me in spite of the pain and suffering that they were repeatedly dealt.

Who will be the victor?

I will, of course.

I am Malek Taus, the Peacock Angel.

My time is come.

How interesting that I should choose to make my initial post with one of these so-called memes. I have borrowed this one from a very lovely Fae lady to whom I owe my part of the bargain. I hope that she will indulge me and ask me her question(s) and tell me about herself.

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who's friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.
